27th November saw Thirsk under 10 girls compete in their second league tournament of this season. The first game against Wakefield was close, with both teams battling hard to score. Thirsk applied good pressure resulting in a 1-0 win with Bella Chapman scoring the only goal. Thirsk were dominant in the second match against Huddersfield Dragons, with goals from Emily Cowell and Sadie Bosomworth and excellent work from midfield securing the girls a 3-0 win. The third game against York B involved excellent passing amongst all the players and great work from the defence, helping to keep the ball in the York half. The result was a 2-0 victory with Emily and Sadie again earning themselves a place on the score sheet. York A proved to be a much more threatening opposition and despite great defensive work from Issy Saxby, Oona Webster-Jones and Gabby Bell, York managed to slot home 2 goals, leaving Thirsk with their only defeat of the day. The final game Vs Rotherham was very equal but the determination and hard work from Thirsk managed to secure them another win, 2-1. Goals were both scored by Bethnee Goodall and great saves in goal by Fern Watson held the score line at this, preventing Rotherham from gaining an equaliser.

Sunday the 30th January saw Thirsk under 10 girls team travel to Leeds for their first league fixture of the new year. With a full team plus one substitute, the girls were off to a fantastic start with a 5-1 win over Harrogate with hard work resulting in great goals by Anna Almond, Marianne Morrice, Sophie Corner and Megan Allen. The girls carried their drive into the second game, showing excellent defending by Freddie Crouch and Grace Stevenson and great saves in goal by Gabby Bell resulting in a 1-1 draw against a strong Ben Rhydding side. The third match of the day ended in a 2-1 win against Pocklington, with strong defending from Oona Webster-Jones, helping to push the ball into midfield for Thirsk to attack. The next match against Driffield proved challenging and despite best efforts from every member of the team, resulted in a 1-0 win to the opposition. By the end game everybody was becoming tired but the girls overcame this and held Wakefield to a 0-0 draw. Throughout the day all the girls worked exceptionally hard and pulled off some very impressive results against tough opposition.

With a good turn out the day was off to a great start and lead to some great results for the young team. With a 1-0 loss to Hull and Huddersfield, 0-0 draws to Wakefield and Doncaster and a 1-0 win against Ben Rhydding we all had an excellent day.

Thank you to all the girls; Marianne Morrice, Frederica Crouch, Grace Stevenson, Oona Webster-Jones, Megan Allen, Fern Watson and Gabriella Bell as they all worked hard and put in some exceptional performances against very tough opposition.

On sunday 24th October the Thirsk girls’ under 10s team were playing their first league fixture of the season at Leeds. We were off to a shakey start as we only had three players; Freddie Crouch, Fern Watson and Oona Webster-Jones, though after loaning players from various other teams the girls buckled down to earn a 4-0 thoroughly deserved win over Leeds Adel in their first match. All the games were very enjoyable to watch and resulted in a 2-2 draw against Ben Rhyding, a 3-0 loss to Pickering and a 2-0 loss to Sheffield. Throughout the games the girls never gave up and put everything they had into playing, aswell as really working hard despite having no substitutes. We all had a lot of fun and in the future with more players commiting to fixtures we will be able to achieve some more great results. A very well done to all three players for the effort they put in, i hope they gained an equal amount of experience and enjoyment from it, and also thank you to the parents for your support.
