Thirsk started off strong knowing they were playing the top of the league team and the game started with very even play from both teams, unfortunately Hull showed why they haven’t yet lost a game and took the lead through a deflected cross, they continued to take charge and at half time Hull had added to the score to make it 4-0.

The second half started just as fast as the first and Thirsk continued to fight with some great runs from Anna Morris, Chrissy Stapley-Hinton and Daisy Jackson to some great shots from Anna Hunter Lissie Walters and Emily Ramsden unfortunately not adding to the score. It was an excellent effort throughout and our spirits were kept high despite the unfortunate loss. The score definitely did not reflect the possession, brilliant passing and teamwork. Our play was good and our standard was high so a big well done to all the team especially Lynne Mckoewn who played her first role as a goal keeper who is usually scoring the goals instead of saving them!!.

Anna Morris got player of the match.

Thirsk Ladies 1st team held Sheffield Hallam 3rds to a 2 all draw on Saturday 1st October. Despite the scorching heat Thirsk played well gaining most of the possession in the first half. Their hard work was rewarded by the first goal when a crossover from Lynn McKeown set Anna Hunter up for a perfect shot. However Sheffield soon equalised despite efforts from Thirsks defence including the return of Charlotte Maxwell in goal. All through the second half Thirsk kept battling and this paid off when Anna Hunter once again found the backboard by slipping the ball round the Sheffield goalie. But yet again Sheffield managed to get a break through to level the score. The heat was taking its toll, Thirsk worked well to maintain all possession but despite many near misses did not score again, Hunter was deprived of a hat trick but did take player of the match.
